Disability Benefits and Workers' Compensation

The Disability Benefits practice group at Hinman, Howard & Kattell provides aggressive representation of employers and employees throughout the state before the Workers’ Compensation Board, Social Security Administration, New York State Retirement System, and New York State Supreme Courts. Our lawyers can handle every aspect of your case from start to finish. We specialize in complex cases that may involve a combination of Workers’ Compensation, No-Fault, Long-Term Disability, Social Security Disability, New York State Disability Retirement, §207 claims and/or third party lawsuits. We also handle appeals in workers’ compensation cases before the New York State Appellate Division and Court of Appeals, and in Federal Court in Social Security cases.

With over 90 years of combined experience, we handle thousands of workers’ compensation matters and other disability benefit claims per year. It is the philosophy of the Disability Benefits practice group to provide the highest quality legal representation efficiently and at competitive cost to our clients. To that end, we have trained our legal assistants to perform more routine tasks, reserving our lawyers’ time and energy for those matters requiring legal knowledge and skills.

Our fees for services to individuals with matters before the New York Workers’ Compensation Board and the Social Security Administration are approved by those agencies. We offer a variety of fee arrangements for employers, insurance carriers, and individuals with other disability-related matters, including standard hourly rate structures, blended hourly rates, volume pricing, and fixed retainer agreements, in an effort to provide our clients with effective representation at a reasonable price.
