New York State Announces Successful Medical Marijuana Bids

The New York State Department of Health announced the successful bidders for the coveted medical marijuana manufacturing and distribution licenses.  43 entities submitted bids in the process.  Only 5 licenses were awarded.  The successful bidders were:

Bloomfield Industries Inc., with a manufacturing facility in Queens County, and dispensing facilities in Nassau, New York, Onondaga, and Erie counties.  Columbia Care NY LLC, with a manufacturing facility in Monroe County, and dispensing facilities in New York, Suffolk, Clinton, and Monroe counties.  Empire State Health Solutions, with a manufacturing facility in Fulton County, and dispensing facilities in Broome, Albany, Westchester, and Queens County.  Etain, LLC, with a manufacturing facility in Warren County, and dispensing facilities in Albany, Ulster, Westchester, and Onondaga counties.   PharmaCann LLC
with a manufacturing facility in Orange County, and dispensing facilities Erie, Onondaga, Albany, and Bronx counties.

Information on the scoring process is available on the Department of Health’s website:  http://www.health.ny.gov/regulations/medical_marijuana/application/evaluation_process.htm

There will likely be lawsuits over the awards, given the expensive nature of the process for applying for applications and the limited licensure granted.
